Admission Requirements by Country
Admission is competitive and enrollment is limited. Possession of the minimum requirements as listed here should not be viewed as a guarantee of admission.
General Certificate of Education (GCE)
Applicants who wish to be considered for admission to The University of Western Ontario on the basis of General Certificate of Education Examinations must submit the following:
- (a) Five General Certificate of Education (GCE)/General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) passes of which two must be at the Advanced Level,
OR
(b) Four General Certificate of Education (GCE)/General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) passes of which three must be at the Advanced Level. - General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examinations will be considered a pass if marks obtained are A, B, or C.
- Students who receive a “B“ grade on final GCE Advanced level exams will receive transfer credit for those courses approved by the appropriate faculty.

Transferred courses with a designation of TRN are not directly equivalent to Western courses but may be used toward your degree.
Western courses numbered 1000 to 1999 are first-year courses and 2000 to 2999 are second-year.
Senior Matriculation from the United States
If you are graduating with high standing (B) from an accredited secondary school in the United States, you are eligible to apply to first year at Western. A minimum combined score of 1100 on the Critical Reading and Math sections of the SAT Reasoning Test and a minimum GPA of 3.0 on four academic Grade 12 subjects are required for admission consideration. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS BY COUNTRY
Students applying from a secondary school program outside Canada will be adjudicated under the admission requirements pertaining to the country in which they were educated. If you do not see your system of education listed, please contact the Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment Office for information. In order to be considered for admission, students must have the following with an appropriate academic average as determined by Western. Please note that possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
