How to Apply

Step 1

Select the academic areas that interest you.

Review the faculties and programs that interest you.

Step 2

Evaluate your eligibility for admission.

Admission to Western is competitive and enrolment limited.  Be sure to review the requirements carefully. Remember that possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Step 3

Complete an online application.

Applications are handled through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC).  Visit www.ouac.on.ca for an application.  The application fee is $130.00 CAD for three choices ($140 for addresses outside of Canada).  Each additional choice is $42.00 CAD.  There is a $75.00 CAD document evaluation fee for those students who have previously attended or been enrolled in a postsecondary institution.

Step 4

Step 7

Receive admissions decision

We begin to notify applicants in December for studies commencing in September.  Admission is on a rolling basis. We accept academically qualified students as long as there is space in our programs.  Remember that possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Your admission offer package will include residence information.

Step 8

Accept the offer of admission

Your admission offer will contain detailed instructions on how to accept our offer of admission.

Remember you must accept your offer through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre to reserve your space at Western.

Step 9

Complete the online residence questionnaire

No formal application for on-campus residence is required.  All first-year students meeting the housing eligibility requirements receive a guaranteed residence offer or wait list offer with their offer of admission.

Once you’ve accepted the offer of admission, be sure to complete the on-line questionnaire at www.uwo.ca/hfs/housing.  Your answers allow us to consider your preferences when assigning you a room and roommate.

Step 10

Apply for a Canadian Study Permit

Unless you’re a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you’ll need to apply for a Study Permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.  Details are available at www.cic.gc.ca/english/study.

Be sure to take your "Letter of Acceptance" to the Canadian consulate or embassy in your region as it is required when applying for a study permit.

These 10 simple steps are meant to provide you with an overview of the application process and should not be considered exhaustive or exact for every applicant.
