Matthew Shoss
From launching small ventures in high school to leading student councils and building a growing digital platform, Matthew Shoss has always been driven to create, connect, and lead with purpose.
At Western, he found the space to bring all those strengths together—combining aviation, entrepreneurship, and student leadership through the Commercial Aviation Management (CAM) program. Drawn to Western’s distinctive mix of flight training and business education, Matthew quickly became immersed in student life. He served as president of the CAM Student Council and vice-president of finance and governance on the Social Science Students’ Council, gaining real-world experience in budgeting, planning, and leading with impact.
He also began creating content online—sharing insights on student life, personal finance, and entrepreneurship. What started as a creative outlet during long study hours has grown into a digital community of over fifty thousand followers. His success online opened new doors in venture capital consulting, public speaking opportunities like TEDxWestern, and mentorship.
Matthew’s story reflects how Western empowers students to explore their passions to positively impact the world.
