Request to Defer Your Studies
Submit your request by August 1.
Have an offer of admission but not quite ready to join us in September? You can ask to delay your studies for one year if you are a first-year full-time student who was admitted directly from high school (graduated from high school within the last 12 months).
We will review requests on a case-by-case basis. We can’t guarantee a deferral of admission and they may be limited in certain faculties or programs.
Our decision is based on:
- Your reason for deferring
- Your final average
- Your faculty
It’s important you know you can’t attend another postsecondary institution in your year off. If you do, your deferral request will be invalid. You won’t get back any payments or deposits.
We will still consider you for an Admission Scholarship. Eligibility will be based on your final high school average and the value you receive will be based on the year you start at Western, not the year you received an offer.
