Steps To Apply
You are if you answer "yes" to these statements:
- I live in Canada
- I am in extended society care or expired out of extended society care/Crown ward without being publicly adopted
- I am applying to an undergraduate program at Western University’s Main Campus
- I plan to study full-time and complete an undergraduate degree in four years
Once you have an offer of admission, you must meet the final admission conditions of your offer.
Step 1: Apply To Western
You must apply to an undergraduate program through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC).
If you are, or were, an Ontario child in extended society care (formerly an Ontario Crown ward), you can be reimbursed for the cost of applying to college or university programs.
Step 2: Self-Identify
Fill out the Extended Society Care Youth Form by April 30.
- Required: A letter from the Children’s Aid Society confirming the length of time you were or have been in extended society care.
- Optional: Help us get to know you and your needs. You can share information about your background and the support you need to be successful at Western.
Step 3: Complete A Loan Application
Ontario students: apply for OSAP and include OSAP’s Verification of Status with Ontario Children’s Aid Society form.
All other Canadian students: apply for your province's grant/loan and include the relevant Children’s Aid Society form.
If you qualify, you’ll get an email to let you know.
This will come after you receive an offer of admission.
It will also include information about support to help you transition to university.
