While You Wait...
Attend a presentation, visit campus, connect with current students. Waiting doesn't have to be boring!
After you apply and submit all your documents, your next step is to... wait⏳. We know this can be hard!
For Group A applicants, we give offers in rounds from December to May. We will review your application in every single round.
We will use the combination of grade 11 and/or grade 12 grades we have available at the time of each offer round.
HOW WE ASSESS APPLICANTS FROM ONTARIO HIGH SCHOOLS
Typically, the last offer round is around mid-May. There is no disadvantage to getting an offer in the last round, so don't worry if you don't hear back early.
After you complete your application by submitting all forms and grades, you can expect to wait up to 6 weeks before you hear back from us. For Nursing applicants, it may take longer to hear back.
We make decisions on a rolling basis. This means decisions are released each week as we work down the queue of complete applications. The earlier you complete your application, the better!
Sometimes when you hear back it won't be an admission decision. We may ask you for additional documents and you'll be back in the queue to review again.
Once we make a decision on your application, you'll get an email.
If we make you an offer, your email will include a link to your personalized Choose Western portal. Only students with an offer of admission can log in to the Choose Western portal.
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and preserving our planet's resources.
We do not print offer letters or send mailed packages to students with an offer of admission.
Your Choose Western portal has all the information you need—plus it's dynamic and personalized to you!
You'll need a Letter of Acceptance to start your study permit paperwork. You'll find this document on the last page of your Offer of Admission letter. You can print it yourself to take to your local consulate or visa processing centre.
Need a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL)? We will email you instructions to request a PAL after you accept your offer of admission.
You may be placed on the waitlist if your admission average is a few percent below the current admission requirements.
Western uses a waitlist because we only have a certain number of seats in each program. If we still have remaining spaces in early June, we will connect with students who have accepted their waitlist offer.
Accept your waitlist offer on your Western Student Center. Accepting your waitlist offer means you could receive an offer of admission if spaces become available.
You can still accept other offers on the OUAC if you accept your waitlist offer.
Waitlists are dynamic. We are not able to tell you your position on the waitlist.
If spaces become available, we offer admission to the most qualified candidates first. If you improve your grades after being placed on the waitlist, make sure your updated marks are on your OUAC account.
Your position on the waitlist is not determined by when you accept your waitlist offer.
If you receive an offer of admission after being waitlisted, you will be notified by email.
Offers from the waitlist typically begin the second week of June. But you could hear from us right up until the end of August.
