Waitlist Offers From Western
Western uses a waitlist because we only have a certain number of seats in each program. Joining the waitlist is a big achievement! It means you could receive an offer of admission if spaces become available.
We're here to help answer your questions about:
- Your place on the waitlist
- Receiving an offer of admission
- Combining waitlist offers and other offers
Your place on the waitlist
How do I accept my place on the waitlist?
To accept a place on the waitlist:
- Log in to the Western Student Center
- Select the Admissions tile
- Within the Applications tile, you will see which program(s) you have been offered a place on the waitlist
- Select the application, then click the “Accept” button, followed by “Yes”
Waitlist decisions are managed independently of your OUAC account.
What is my place on the waitlist?
Space availability changes constantly so we cannot provide specific information as to when you may hear from us or your place on the list.
Can I send a statement of intent or letters of recommendation?
No. At this stage, we do not accept extra documents like statements of intent or recommendation letters. Decisions are based only on the documents that Western has asked for as part of your application.
Receiving an offer of admission
When will I find out if I have an offer of admission?
Offers from the waitlists are usually made throughout the summer after June 1. You could receive an offer right up until early September.
Am I guaranteed to get an offer if I join the waitlist?
No. Joining the Waitlist only shows that you are still interested in Western. If space becomes available, we may review applications from the Waitlist. If no space opens, we will not be able to make offers. You will be contacted only if a space becomes available and you are eligible for an offer.
Will housing be included in an offer of admission from the waitlist?
We'll assess housing availability when extending offers of admission from the waitlist. If guaranteed housing is available, we'll let you know. If residence spaces are full and you are eligible for an offer of admission, we will provide information about alternative housing options in London.
If I accept a place on the waitlist, do I have to accept the offer if it comes?
If you receive an offer of admission from the waitlist, you are not required to accept it.
Combining waitlist offers and other offers
Does accepting my waitlist place cancel my other offer?
You can still accept other offers on the OUAC if you join the waitlist. Be sure to accept any firm offer of admission you currently have by the offer response deadline.
Can I be on more than one program waitlist?
If you receive an invitation to join the waitlist for more than one program, you can accept a place on each waitlist.
Does accepting an offer elsewhere impact my waitlist consideration?
You can accept a place on the waitlist while also accepting and holding an offer at another institution. We do not see or consider whether you have accepted an offer elsewhere—doing so will not impact your consideration on the waitlist.
If I accept a place on the waitlist, will I still be looked at for the other program(s) I applied to?
Yes. Accepting a place on the waitlist for one program does not affect your consideration for any other program(s) you applied to—each application is reviewed independently.
